Men’s Health Week: Tips for Maintaining Prostate Health

Men’s Health Week is celebrated June 9-15, the week leading up to and including Father’s Day. According to the Men’s Health Week website, the purpose of this week is to “heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.”

In honor of Men’s Health Week, Columbus CyberKnife recommends men take the following steps to maintain a healthy prostate:

  • Stick to a low-fat diet
  • Avoid cigarette smoke and tobacco products
  • Exercise on a regular basis
  • Get an annual prostate check-up after reaching the age of 40
  • Reduce the amount of alcohol and caffeine intake
  • Maintain a regular sex schedule

Additional information about prostate health can be found on the Prostate Health Guide website.

Our center treats prostate cancer with a nonsurgical procedure called stereotactic body radiation therapy using CyberKnife® technology. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, contact our center to learn if you are a candidate for CyberKnife treatment.
