National Comprehensive Cancer Network Releases New Guidelines

As of January 2014, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN) updated its NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology® to include stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) as a treatment option for prostate cancer.

NCCN is an alliance of 23 of the world’s leading cancer centers. These institutions work together to develop treatment guidelines for many cancers and are dedicated to research that improves the quality of cancer care.

Our team at Columbus CyberKnife is excited about the update NCCN made to its 2014 guidelines including SBRT as a recommended treatment for prostate cancer as it demonstrates acceptance and support of SBRT from a leading, world-renown coalition of cancer centers. SBRT treatment for prostate cancer involves no more than five treatment sessions with minimal disruption to normal activities.
